From idea to ink

Considered at every step.

A clear direction. A conversation about the details. Something you can feel good putting your name on.

01

02

Talk through the details.

Tell us what you’re making, who it’s for, how many you need and when you need it. We discuss the format, artwork, materials and a quote for your project.

Review before print.

Artwork, proof and production details are reviewed before the job moves forward. A concept preview finds the direction; the final file needs its own review.

From printed sheet to finished card.

01 · Print

Printed many to a sheet.

Business cards come off the press twelve to a sheet, with crop marks where the blade will go.

02 · Stack

Squared into a stack.

The sheets are jogged square against the fence, so every card lines up with the one below it.

03 · Cut

Cut on the guillotine.

The clamp holds the stack, the blade comes down on the crop marks, and the back gauge sets up the next line.

04 · Finish

Stacks of finished cards.

Each row is cut again into cards, checked, and packed for you.

A few good questions

Before we begin.

01

Can I bring my own artwork?

Yes. Send a PDF, AI, INDD package or a layered PSD with the brief. We check bleed, resolution, colour and fonts, fix what we can, and tell you about anything that needs a change before it prints. The artwork guidelines below cover the basics.
02

Can I order directly from this site?

Add listed products and design services to your cart, then enter your contact details and review checkout. Printed orders need a shipping address; design-only orders are delivered by email. Proofs go to your chosen email for approval. Online payment will open once our payment setup is complete. For products or specifications outside the catalogue, use Request a quote (RFQ).
03

Can I design it myself online?

Soon. Our web-to-print designer is on its way: choose a format, drop in your words and artwork, proof it on screen and send it to the press. Until it launches, send a brief and we set the artwork up with you.
04

What if I need something different?

Request a quote (RFQ). Other sizes, quantities, papers and finishes, and products that are not in the shop yet, are conversations we have often. If we do not print it ourselves, we will say so and point you somewhere good.
05

How long does a job take?

It depends on the format, the finish and how quickly the proof is approved. Timing is confirmed with your quote, and rush options exist for most formats. Tell us the date you need it in hand and we plan backwards from there.

Artwork guidelines

Set it up once. It prints right.

The diagram is a business card, but the rules are the same for every format: bleed past the edge, keep the important things inside the safe area.

BLEED · 0.125 IN PAST TRIM TRIM · 3.5 × 2 IN (DASHED) SAFE AREA · 0.125 IN INSIDE TRIM Make your mark. Ideas made tangible.
01

Bleed 0.125 in on every sideBackgrounds and images run past the trim line so no white edge shows after cutting.

02

Safe area 0.125 in inside trimText, logos and anything that matters stays inside it.

03

300 dpi at final sizePhotos and rasters. Vector art is resolution-free and preferred for logos and type.

04

CMYK colour, or tell us the spot colourRGB converts on press and can shift. Our red is C0 M92 Y96 K5, or PANTONE 485 C on request.

05

Fonts outlined or embeddedA PDF/X-1a or PDF/X-4 export handles this for you.

06

One file per side, named clearlycard-front.pdf, card-back.pdf. Include a flat JPG for reference if the layout is unusual.
